Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

Overview

TorqueSpec.org ("we", "us") is a free reference website that publishes bolt torque specifications. We do not require accounts, we do not collect names, email addresses, or payment details, and we never sell personal data. This page explains the limited data that is processed when you visit the site.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful and how visitors find the site. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as:

  • Pages visited and time spent on them
  • Approximate location (country/city level, derived from IP address)
  • Device, browser, and operating system information
  • Referring website or search engine

This data is aggregated and does not directly identify you. Google's handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser settings.

Cookies

The only cookies set by this site are those used by Google Analytics (names beginning with _ga). We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting. Blocking these cookies does not affect any functionality of the site.

Server Logs & Hosting

The site is hosted as static pages on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log standard technical data (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and operational purposes, as described in the GitHub Privacy Statement. Fonts are served by Google Fonts and page styling by the Tailwind CSS CDN; these providers receive standard HTTP request data when assets are loaded.

Calculator & Search

The torque calculator, unit converters, and site search run entirely in your browser. Values you enter are never transmitted to our servers or stored.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we hold no personal data about visitors, such requests generally apply to Google as the analytics provider — but you can always contact us with questions and we will help where we can.

Changes to This Policy

If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and revise the date shown above.
