Privacy Policy

Overview

TorqueSpec.org ("we", "us") is a free reference website that publishes bolt torque specifications. We do not require accounts, we do not collect names, email addresses, or payment details, and we never sell personal data. This page explains the limited data that is processed when you visit the site.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful and how visitors find the site. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as:

• Pages visited and time spent on them
• Approximate location (country/city level, derived from IP address)
• Device, browser, and operating system information
• Referring website or search engine

This data is aggregated and does not directly identify you. Google's handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser settings.

We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics, a cookieless analytics service that records aggregate page views, referrers, and country, device, and browser type. It does not set cookies or build profiles of individual visitors. See the Ahrefs Privacy Policy.

Advertising

TorqueSpec is free to use and may be supported by advertising served by Google AdSense. When ads are shown:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
• Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads or advertising cookies are used.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies with names beginning with _ga. When advertising is shown, Google and its partners may set advertising cookies as described above. We do not use fingerprinting. Blocking cookies does not affect any functionality of the site.

Server Logs & Hosting

The site is hosted as static pages on GitHub Pages and delivered through Cloudflare's network. GitHub and Cloudflare may log standard technical data (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and operational purposes, as described in the GitHub Privacy Statement and the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. Fonts are served by Google Fonts; this provider receives standard HTTP request data when assets are loaded. Page styling is compiled CSS served directly from this site with no external CDN requests.

Calculator & Search

The torque calculator, unit converters, and site search run entirely in your browser. Values you enter are never transmitted to our servers or stored.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we hold no personal data about visitors, such requests generally apply to Google as the analytics and advertising provider — but you can always contact us with questions and we will help where we can.

Changes to This Policy

If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and revise the date shown above.
