Reference information only

Torque values for bolts are calculated from published standards (ISO 898-1, SAE J429, ASME B1.1) using the formula and assumptions described on the methodology page. Vehicle, engine and component figures are compiled from manufacturer data. All of it is general reference information.

Actual tightening requirements depend on the joint design, materials, thread condition, lubrication, tools and the manufacturer's instructions. Always follow the specification from the manufacturer of the equipment or fastener you are working on, and have safety-critical, structural, pressure-containing or vehicle-safety joints specified or checked by a qualified engineer or technician.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. We work to keep the data correct and fix errors when they are reported, but we cannot guarantee that every value is free of error or current for every model year.
