Multiply by 1.3558179. A 100 ft·lbs wheel nut spec is 135.6 N·m; 80 ft·lbs is 108.5 N·m; a 25 ft·lbs spark plug figure is 33.9 N·m. For mental arithmetic, add a third and a little more: 60 ft·lbs → 60 + 20 + 1.3 ≈ 81 N·m (exact 81.3).
You most often need this when a US-market service manual or torque wrench reads in ft·lbs but the part documentation, or a European wrench, reads in N·m. Most click wrenches are only accurate to ±4% of reading, so there is no benefit in setting a converted value to more than one decimal place.
