How Ram Wheel Torque Works

Ram 1500 uses M14×1.5 studs at 130 ft·lbs; the 8-lug 2500 and 3500 step up to 145 ft·lbs. Both need a 22 mm socket. Dually 3500 rear wheels must be re-torqued after 100 miles without exception.

Tightening Any Ram Wheel

Star sequence, always. Never work around the wheel in a circle. Five-lug wheels go 1 → 3 → 5 → 2 → 4; six-lug wheels go 1 → 4 → 2 → 5 → 3 → 6; eight-lug wheels go 1 → 5 → 3 → 7 → 2 → 6 → 4 → 8.

Two passes. Snug everything to about half spec first, then bring each lug nut to full torque in the same order.

Dry threads. Ram publishes these figures for clean, dry threads. Lubricant at the same wrench setting produces far more clamp load than intended.

Re-torque after 50–100 miles. This matters most on alloy wheels and after any wheel-off service.
